MUCA, the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art, found a new home in an old transformer station owned by Munich’s municipal utilities company six years ago.
Since then, it has become an integral part of Munich’s cultural landscape, successfully drawing in visitors from all over the world.
Following establishment of Kunstlabor in the former health center in 2020 and the associated outsourcing of the AIT and office spaces, the site is now capable of accommodating larger exhibitions in expanded areas. The nearby listed high-rise bunker building could potentially offer additional exhibition space. Kunstlabor (Dachauer Strasse) and MUCA (Hotterstrasse) have formed a unique and intellectually vibrant ensemble in Munich, which is unparalleled anywhere in the world.
