Low-Tech Medienfassade

Low-tech media facade

A common urban condition: The facade of a newly renovated building need to represent the nature of what occurs within. This is often done with signage, bearing the key information that the visitor needs to know, such as the name of the store or the brand hidden inside. This method, if multiplied throughout the city unchecked, leads to "forest of signs" paper thin and generally unchanging. For this Hotel renovation facade an abstract QR -Code the size of a building is used in place of signage, thus combining media and architecture. Fleeting information is made legible through unchanging static materials.
